New Orleans

Our first time in New Orleans!!!! This past weekend my family and I went to Chapel Hill, TN for my brother’s tractor pull. My boyfriend and I saw that it took 6 hrs from Chapel Hill to go down to New Orleans. We both had never been there before so we thought how fun would it be to explore the town together! So let’s do a little recap of such a fun week in New Orleans!

Day One:

Where we stayed:

We stayed on Touro Street, which was the perfect location because it was a few minutes from French Quarter. We arrived that night and got settled in. We had our first dinner at Mr. B’s Bistro! Let me tell you that this was by far my favorite place to eat down here. If you decide to make the trip please do me a favor and eat here for me haha! What we ordered for the night. We both grew up in the type of household where we order the full three main courses for the table; appetizers, entre, and deserts. It was the least to say I was stuffed like a turkey for the whole weekend. We got the seafood gumbo and the truffle fries for starter.s I definitely recommend the fries to begin no matter what. For dinner, I got the B A R B E Q U E D S H R I M P and Nick ordered the F I L E T M I G N O N. That was by far the best shrimp I have ever had in my life. I’m already home and trying to remake it. For dessert, we got the pecan pie. You will start to notice that this trip was definitely pecan themed!

Day Two

This day was so much fun! We got up early in the morning and headed out to the Ultimate Swamp Adventures Tour. It took us about twenty minutes to get there. I was already making Shrek and Donkey references on the way there. If you are looking for some adventure this would be the way to go. Our boat had no guard rail so you felt so close to the alligators. We got to learn some history about the swamps and alligators; apparently, the water is the hottest it has ever been. The trees were so pretty it reminded me of the notebook, just so enchanting! We saw lots of little alligators. Our tour guide would call them out and toss them marshmallows as snacks. Here are some pic from the swamp tour!

After being like crocodile Dundee, we were hungry so we headed over to Brenn’s for lunch. We enjoyed the experience, but we think we would try out another place next time. They are known for their Bananas foster, which was invented there. It seriously melted in my mouth a 10/10!

After lunch we headed to the Jam Nola Museum. Okay so to be honest we saw lots of hype from this place and when we went there we felt like there should have been more rooms for the cost of it. It was still neat to see, but would we take our families there? Probably not. We still had a very good time though! Here are some funny pics;)

After our tour, we grabbed a quick bite at Shake Shack for some burgers and fries. Then we decided to make our way to the Garden District for a evening stroll looking at the beautiful plantation homes. We stopped at Robert’s grocery store for some snacks and drinks. This was the perfect way to end the night!

Day Three

This was the day for sightseeing! On our last day, we wanted to check everything off the list, which meant grabbing breakfast at Ruby Slipper. It ended up being right across the street from where we were staying! We got mini French toast, cinnamon pancakes, and omelets for breakfast. It was a 10/10! After breakfast, we headed to the French Market! The French market opens up at 10 and closes around six. It’s right in the center of town. There are tons of vendors to get something to sip on and treats to eat. You also get to enjoy jazz music while shopping around the town square! Let me just be honest with you, I was just really excited to try a beignet for Café Du Monde. Let me tell you it did not disappoint! Did I have powdered sugar all over me?…. yes! Was it worth it…. Yes. Did I eat two of them… Yes! After stuffing our bellies we walked around Jackson Square and just enjoyed the day in the sun!

We didn’t make any dinner reservations for the night so Nick found us this cute little place called Brigtsen’s. This place was an old plantation home that they turn into a little restaurant. They don’t keep a freezer because they believe in keeping everything fresh. This was Nick’s favorite place to eat! Nick ordered the pork chop and said it was the best he had ever had! He genuinely had the biggest smile on his face. I ordered the bbq shrimp and it was so yummy! As for dessert we ordered the pecan pie. Nick said that their pie was his favorite. We couldn’t get over how charming the place was! It was such a sweet romantic evening.

Time to head home!
